Work Performed:
Rust, Efflo & Calcium Treatments
Brier Creek Commons had a problem with calcium deposits caused by the back retaining wall not being sealed and allowing the dirt behind the wall to leach calcium deposits through the stone. The deposits had been collecting over a 10-year period without being able to be successfully removed despite many previous efforts to do so. Our team began experimenting on a test section of wall to determine the perfect mix of chemicals for removal of the calcium. Once the proper chemical mix was established, we began the methodology we have perfected over years of cleaning. We agitated the deposits with a wire brush and reapplied chemicals as needed. This is a tedious and labor-intensive process. We finished the cleaning with a high-pressure water treatment. We were able to remove 95% of all calcium deposits with this cleaning process. Brier Creek Commons is now set up on a recurring services plan to regularly clean the retaining wall in order to prevent larger deposits from forming over time.
